Day Thirty
i think what I'm going to do is just start writing about how a certain debate or forensics tournament went what i could do to make my results better at that tournament and why i think some of the judges didn't vote for me, if i don't do that then i don't know what i will use the blog for yet.
Day Twenty Nine
i think its important to show dedication because it not only lets the readers know who helped make the book a success and who kept the reader motivated through out the book.
i chose two people to dedicate my book to my mom for always being there for me on this project and helping me by editing and telling me what was wrong with it, and my grandma just because she always supports me and when i need alone time to just type she makes sure i get that time at her house

Day Twenty Eight
1. life of Petersen- this is significant because it summarizes the whole story because the whole story is about Petersen and his ups and downs, it also shows how well he handles life.
2. German influence- this would be significant because it shows how although some people might be "bad" in Germany Petersen still stays strong and doesn't let it influence him to be bad.
3. Rags to Riches- this could be a good title because Petersen goes from flat broke to $20,000 quick, then after that he becomes the leader of Berlin, which makes him richer.
4.3rd times the charm- this could be considered a title because after hes first two wife's divorce him, and he gets married to the third that's when he becomes rich.
5. Preleading- this could a title because it would show that something happens before he becomes a leader, as in everything that leads up to the climax of him becoming a leader

Day Twenty Seven
everything that i have really learned so far is helping me a lot with typing and connecting the story with real life events and connecting the story to the readers. some things that i need to work on is overcoming my writers block, and commenting on more blogs, also reading Adora's blogs to help me out if they can.
over the past month this blog has really helped me to understand technology better and how professional writers feel when they have writers block which sucks, i think it's great that prier lets us do this not a lot of teachers would have, i also like how he makes some of the kids "teach" which helps us get a good point of view from the student.

Day Twenty Six
what i have learned so far is that I'm not as bad with technology as i thought I've also learned to type faster then before. my main strengths are that when i start writing it just doesn't stop, I'm also in debate so i have learn how to word things to make them understandable. the biggest weakness i have is writers block i cant seem to get out of it. another weakness is that i have a hard time deciding what should be cut out of the story,
if you have any comments that could help me overcome this writers block please tell me!
if you have any comments that could help me overcome this writers block please tell me!
Day Twenty Five
right now my manuscript is still short so not much to read, anyways its sounds okay when i read it out loud i dont really like it but my siblings do, it flows somewhat but i know i can fix it, the style is third person that way its easier for the kids to understand, it keeps the story understandable for everyone.
Day Twenty Four
the climax i chose is Personal problems overcome by character’s own efforts. because Petersen clearly shows this when he gets the money he needs to get out of poverty. another one that could be used is Greatest challenges met because he overcomes his poorness and becomes rich and famous
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
Day Twenty Three
Petersen- because Petersen is the protagonist he will be good, the way children will be able to realize this, is because whenever he's first two wife's ask for a divorce he keeps his cool and because he does as he is told.
Ada- one of the many antagonist, the way children will see this is how she treats Petersen and how she convinces her daughter to divorce Petersen because of money
Adelheide- she is one that is uncertain because at first she doesn't care Petersen is poor, then she divorce's him because her mom convinced her just because Petersen is poor, the way I'm going to show this is how sweet and how evil she acts during the story
Bertha- not able to identify because she is not in much of the story line, but i would say protagonist, because when Berta divorce's Petersen because he doesn't have any money she gets mad.
Berta- she isn't in the story line enough but i would say antagonist because right after she finds out that Petersen's first wife left him because he had no money so does she.
Loraine- Protagonist because she is the reason Petersen and Lorelei meet, she thought Petersen was a great guy and loved for him to meet her daughter, she also gets the wedding ready
Lorelei- Protagonist, the reason she is a protagonist is because after she finds out Petersen is flat broke and his first two wife's left him she still stays with him
Adalhard- protagonist the reason he is and the way the children are going able to tell is because he gives Petersen $20,000, which helps Petersen become famous

Day Twenty Two
("good things come to those who wait but they also have to keep a positive attitude to get those good things")
all of the marriages that take place, these will be in there because there not the best of relationships but the final relationship is the one Petersen waited for.
when Petersen goes hunting, he has to wait to for the animals to pass him, because of this he gets the animal for keeping the positive attitude.
the main thing that will happen to prove the message is when Petersen gets the $20,000, this will be it because Petersen kept a positive attitude all his life and the outcome was that he got the $20,000 in the end

Day Twenty One
"As i looked out over the porch, i watched the bucks fight"
this is going to be the first line in my story because there is fighting and drama within the line which can tie back into the story line its self, the picture i plan to have is of two bucks in the distance ramming antlers together while trying to gain dominance of the land.

Day Twenty
as of right now I'm thinking of just finding pictures online that go with my story, but improving them by using Photoshop, these plans are not final I'm also thinking about using paint to create my pictures the way i wont them to be. that way the kids can relate if they were to draw the pictures.
the 15 pictures that will represent my story are going to be some of the major themes such as the marriage, Petersen, Petersen's hut, a mayor speech, and money, those are just some of the ideas i have right now, im also thinking about having a friend draw them for me.

Day Nineteen
what i want my story to showcase is that as long as you keep trying you can get what you want without being a little brat but keeping a good attitude. i also want it to showcase the fact that moneys not everything and that you have no one to blame for whats wrong with you.
something that i want to try to put in then story is that Petersen's second wife has a baby while they are still married but it really isn't Petersen's kid, but he will never find that out, and i also what t change it to where Petersen's first wife and Third wife are cousins, so it will add some drama to the story line

Day Eighteen
first i would like to say sorry for being behind in my blogs but for some reason we couldn't access the internet at the hotel in Wichita.
the three folktales i have chosen are The Iron Chest, One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes: A Hutzul Tale, and King Bluebeard
the summary for The Iron Chest. in this story a poor peasant was in the woods and talked to a woman who gave him a chess of money he had to keep it a secret, when he got home he told his wife and she told the neighbor, it finally made it to the king and the king summoned the peasant and told him that he stole the money and that he knew everything about it, so the peasant told the king that his wife was crazy, the king gave the peasant two weeks, within the two weeks the peasant made his wife think things were happening that weren't really happening, when the wife and peasant were summoned the king thought the wife was crazy and sent them home, the peasant spent the money in little amounts and bought land, overtime he became one of the wealthiest people.
the summary for One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes: A Hutzul Tale. there were three sisters one with one eyes, one with two eyes, and one with three eyes. the sisters with one and three eyes always picked on the sister with two eyes, the sisters got a goat and made two eyes go to the meadows with it so it could it and an old woman cam e and gave her a charm to say, when she said the charm food appeared, then her sisters found out and got rid of the goat. the old woman appeared she gave two eyes a seed and it made a silver leafed gold apple tree that her sisters could never get, a knight saw the tree and asked for an apple the two eyed sister gave him an apple and they lived happily ever after.
the summary for king Bluebeard. a man had everything he wanted and when he left for business trips, he told his wife's not to open a certain closet and when they did they found his ex-wife's which he had killed. when he got back he would kill them if the opened the closet, the last wife he had, did the same thing as everybody else and he was going to kill her too he gave her one hour to prepare to be killed so she whistled for her brothers, just as King Bluebeard was going to kill her, her brothers showed up and killed him. when the brothers found out what he did they burned down his castle and took their sister and they lived happily ever after
the significance of the folktales are that you should never treat people wrongly, and do what your told. the folktales seem to focus on two aspects King Bluebeard and The Iron Chest focus on do what your told, whereas One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes: A Hutzul Tale focus's on you should never treat people wrong, the stories do teach lessons like do one to others as you would want them to do to you, and always do as told,

Day Seventeen
The story i went back and read was Little Red Riding-Hood by Charles Perrault. the summary of this story is, the big bad wolf goes to little red riding hoods' grandma's house and eats the grandma, then little red riding hood goes to her grandma's house and the wof eats her too.
the similarities between my pastiche and little red riding hood is that, both people want something, and they keep going until they get it, the wolf is hungry so he eats grandma and little red riding hood. while petersen didn't want to be poor anymore and meets Adalhard who gives him $20,000
the differences between the two folktales is that in little red riding hood the wolf is evil, whereas in my story Petersen is not evil, he is just trying to make the world a better place. also petersen is not a killer whereas the wolf is a killer.
the messages between the two folktales are almost the same, the message i got from little re riding hood was that you can do what you want if you keep trying, and in my story the message is you can get what you want as long as you keep a positive attitude.

Day Sixteen
Petersen- deep German accent, that everybody loves
Ada- high-pitched voice
Adelheide- sweet soft voice
Bertha- deep manly voice, which freaks people out
Berta- high pitched but not annoying
Loraine- sweet voice that everybody loves
Lorelei- sweet voice, but so demanding
Adalhard- fast speaking, barley understand
the two characters that are speaking to each are Petersen and Ada
Hello Ada, said Petersen
Petersen said Ada with an attitude. nice weather were having isn't it. (thinks to himself..her voice is so annoying). it could be better, said Ada. Petersen then said why do you say that?. because i hate sunshine its too bright. said Ada
sometimes it can be, i have to go bye Ada (thinks to himself..i need to leave before her voice drives me crazy). Goodbye Petersen. said Ada

Day Fifteen
things that went bad were that i was in some what of a rush to get it over with, didn't do as much research as i could have done with this project, i also could have used better pictures with more color. and with better quality.
i presented my culture (Berlin, Germany) and talked about some of its history, then i also presented the original folktale Blue Beard, after i did that i presented my Pastiche, i explained it told how it was different, told my motifs, symbols, and the number that was going to be in the story.
the thing that really helped me was asking mia about the project the night before and finding out what i had to do, then after that one of the best things was seeing people go before me so i could fix some of the mistakes they made, to make my Pecha Kucha better.

Day Thirteen
the message that i got from my folktale blue beard by Charles Perrault is that "good things come if you wait", i also got the message that "when told to do something the best thing to do is do what was told". my pastiche is not very different from the message in blue beard because the message i want my readers to get is that "good things come to those who wait but they also have to keep a positive attitude to get those good things". they might seem the same but because they are different cultures the meanings are different its like putting that with today in America and also with Haiti, all Haiti really wants would be relief right now whereas somebody in America would want either a job or a great some of cash to different things.

Day Twelve
the folk tale blue beard by Charles Perrault is a Trickster Folktale, becuase in the end blue beards final wife tricks him into giving her time to pray which inturn actually gave her time to wait for her brothers to arrive and when they did they killed blue beard. so the weaker female out tricked the male and got away.
in my pastiche the type of folk tale is Noodle head Folktale because he keeps making the same mistake of getting women who leave him. in the end Petersen finds the woman that stays with him.
the original and my pastiche are not the same type of folktale, unless you looked at Petersen as the weaker person against women, then my pastiche could be considered to be a trickster folktale. its important to classify folktales because then you can find what your looking for faster if your looking for animals who act like humans or if your looking for a happy ending. a noodle head folktale relates to my message because although you might make the same mistake over and over again over time it becomes clear and you then know what you did wrong which will help you in the ending by letting you achieve what you want.

Day Eleven

the number i choose is the number 20 the importance this number has is that at the end when Petersen gets all the money from Adalhard its $20,000 which was a lot of money in 1697, the number also represent the number of people the Petersen lead when he becomes the leader of Berlin Germany at the end of the story. with out this number Petersen would have never meet his dream of becoming rich and getting out of poverty, he also wouldn't have been able to become the leader of Berlin and become famous.
Thursday, January 14, 2010
Day Ten
the importance of my blogs are that when other people give a critic about what i wrote about it helps me better understand what i could do to make my story better. the difference of writing on paper and blog is the main fact that sense most things are becoming modernized and we are advancing in technology it helps everybody doing this because we will be ready for the future its also differnt because by blogging we are able to get a response faster which gives us a chance to make are next blog better.
this experience opened my mind to new things such as blogging i have never been a big blogger but now that i actually am forced to do it to get a grade im seeing that its not so bad. i would say it has greatly improved my writing because after i get my comments right after im finished i look at them and see what i need to fix and i fix it write away which prepares me for the next blog and improves my writing skils

Day Nine
this maybe sound weird because its something most everybody goes through unless they drop out of school but because petersen didnt get the proper education he needed he gets to go to school one night to get a high school education and walk across the stage and graduate, some of the man factors are, a tree that is near his house that comes a live at night and motivates petersen to stay strong, the round wood logs turn into the carriage ( it looks like a bus) the cap and gown. as petersen comes near to getting his GED he wakes up and realizes that it was all just a dream and he will never have a true high school education because he just cant afford it.
Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Day Eight

what i see is a hut int he marshy lands of berlin, germany where petersen lives, it shows that only one man is needed to take care of so mouch land, and that factories have not taken over all the grassy areas. this picture inspires me because although petersen lives here he is still able to communicate with the outside world, in other words anything is possible if all you do is try and work hard for that certain out come.
this picture conveys a story without words because it shows life as it is, it also shows a place to live which says within the image that life can be lived anywhere, no matter what, it also tells how manufacturing companies have not over taken that part of berlin yet.

Day Seven
physical traits: 6'5" muscular, Blond and short, blue eyes, no facial hair (Mustache, beard), clothes with holes in them, jeans have holes, very good posture always sits up straight, very good manners although he is poor he keeps good manners
personal history traits: petersen has a bad education because he was to poor and could not afford a good education, he is a Protestant, for as far back as petersen knows all of his family has been poor and he has two siblings who moved to france to marry, when he was kid he would have fun playing in the marshy lands with his siblings, petersen doesnt really work although he is the biggest bachelor in berlin germany he doesnt have money so nothing really good happens for him. all he really does is roam the streets of berlin trying to find any change that he can, he has been married twice and is working on his third, he loves to hunt thats how he gets most of his food, he is in good health although he is poor and lives in the marshy lands he still keeps good health.
Inner person traits: some personality traits are that he is a very hard work he tries as much as he can to become not poor so in a way he is stubborn, he views him self as somebody who could get whatever he wanted if he really tried to get it, his main dream is to become rich and help his family, he fears being poor his whole life and never getting a wife that will stay with him, he has a bad sense of humor because he acts as serious as possible just so when the right opportunity to become rich, petersen says he doesnt have much ethical standards but that every person should just be there self and not try to be somebody that there not, petersen says that he always keeps a good attitude to go with his manners and the way that he "vents" is when he is hunting and he kills his dinner.

Day Four
the story takes place in Berlin Germany, in a small hut in the marshy lands, the dialogue takes place in petersen's hut, near his fire place, inside the city of Berlin, petersen walks the streets of Berlin every day and waits for night fall to go to his hut so no one would see where he lives unless he took them there, its the year 1697, the weather is like a nice spring day meaning the temperature is any where from 60-70 degrees.
the days are going to be may 1 st to November 1 st
1 May : Labor Day.
1 May : Ascension.
12 May : Whit Monday.
22 May : Corpus Christi.
15 Aug : Assumption.
3 Oct : Day of German Unity.
31 Oct : Day of Reformation.
1 Nov : All Saints’ Day.
above is a list of which holidays are celebrated in germany from may 1st to November 1st. i picked these days because thats when more holidays happen which would make more gatherings for petersen to go to, to find the wife that will stay with him.

Day Three
For my culture Berlin, Germany, all of the customs were very different Berlin, Germany was in many wars so it was mixed, it was so bad that a . A system of rule based on absolutism was established. the marshy terrain will be apart of the story because petersen is going to be living in a small hut in the marshy land. 60% of people in berlin do not have a religion. the climate mid 70s F mid 50s F. Winters are cold with average high temperatures of upper 30s F and lows of upper 20s and low 30s F so the little hut is going to be snowed in. Berlin is an important center in the European and German film industry, so near the end of the story petersen is going to get a movie roll and become rich, originally focused largely on punk music but petersen cant sing a lick s he doesnt really get the roll he wants, Berlin has a long tradition as a city of medicine and medical technology. so petersen never gets sick at all.

day two
i have my motifs and symbols as of right now. which, are that Petersen (who is the main character) gets married often because he is the most handsome guy in berlin, the only down fall is that he is flat broke which drives all the women away, him getting married and divorced is both a motif and symbol.
in my story i want Petersen to have a "happy ever after" ending, unlike blue beard. Petersen will also be elected leader of berlin and become famous. some of the main motifs are that blue beard goes on a lot of trips and gives his wife the keys and they find past wifes that he has killed. and also that blue beard isnt a nice guy one mistake could cost you your life

the folk tale i choose was Blue Beard by Charles Perrault, basically the story is about a man who has riches, houses, just about everything. The only problem is that he has a blue beard so every wife he has had, has left him. he tries to get a wife but they never stay with him.
im going to make the new culture in berlin, germany. the way im going to change it is by making the man the most handsome guy around.... but he will be flat broke.
